The third function of assessment is to assist in making placement decisions about children like

1. Whether the child needs or qualifies for early intervention if the child is an infant.
2. Whether schools are required to report children by their developmental problems
3. Whether they enable the legislation to provide suitable services for different categories of children or determine eligibility for government services.
