Stage IV- Individualized Planning of Programmes & Interventions

If the diagnosis indicates a need for early intervention, assessment for individualized planning of programmes and interventions takes place. Criterion referenced assessment instruments are used to assess the child’s mastery of specific skills. The assessment should provide answers to the questions like

  • What are the child’s strengths and weaknesses?
  • What instructional goals should be set for this child?
  • Areas to be covered in planning include
  • Sensory/physical development
  • Language and communication abilities
  • Fine and gross motor development
  • Cognitive abilities
  • Self help and adaptive skills
  • Social and emotional growth.
  • Performance in one developmental domain influences development in other domains.
