Lesson 4:Environmental Assessment

Social aspects

Social aspects include peer environments which focuses on children who are available to serve as peers and play mates. It emphasizes size of the peer group and also age of the peer groups.

Responsiveness: An environment should contain many forms of responses to children’s behavior. Physically responsive environment may help teach children that their behavior influence the environment. This ability should enhance feelings of competence and help children become more independent.

Responsiveness may come from reactive toys, peers or adults. Ex: Social reciprocity for the enhancement of feelings of social competence.
