Bayley scale of infant Development (BSID)

  • It was developed by Bayley in 1969
  • Suitable for infants from birth to 2.5 years.
  • It has 3 parts – mental scale, motor scale and infant behavior record.
  • Mental scale- it has 163 items, it measures sensory perception, object constancy and early verbal ability.
  • Motor scale – it has 81 items and measures body control, coordination and dexterity (skill).
  • Infant Behaviour record – it has 30 items and measure social and objective orientation.
