Cognitive development - Meaning

The development of mental processes or skills that enable a child to get to know his environment is known as Cognitive development.

Cognitive processes or skills: The basis of all awareness or learning depends on the proper development of the five senses i.e. touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight.

The senses are the ‘gateways’ to all experiences in the environment. The child learns from the experiences or develops an understanding of the world around him with the help of certain cognitive skills through which experiences are processed.
