Socio-emotional development- Meaning

The development of the characteristics or behaviours that help the child to adjust to the social environment is known as Social development. Emotional development provides the base for social development as it has implications for the child's social behaviour and interactions. There are wide individual differences in children’s behaviour, characteristics and motivation. Some children are very active, outgoing, independent, explorative and curious while some may be shy, passive, dependent and withdrawn. Sometimes the same child may appear different in different situations.
