Reports

Reports are generally written on the basis of the estimate arrived at by the teacher. The purpose of sending the reports to the parents is to acquaint them with the abilities and difficulties of the child. The teacher has to focus on how much progress the child has made, his special interests and how the progress can stimulate his progress. She should also point out where the child stands in comparison with the other children in his age group, whether he has any special difficulties and if so how he could be helped to overcome them. The reports may be sent at the end of every term.

Cumulative record for young children:

It includes the following information regarding the whole child.

  1. Personal information: Name of the child, sex, date of birth, mother tongue, order of birth etc.
  2. Home background of the child: Parent’s age, education qualification, occupation, income, type of family, information about siblings and relatives, facilities etc.
  3. Developmental history: Birth history, age of weaning, developmental milestones, record of illnesses, accidents, bowel and bladder control attainment age.
  4. Habits and interests of the child: Food habits, sleeping and social habits, interests etc.
  5. Health record: Medical checkup and recommendations, height, weight and body measurements of the child.
  6. Attendance record: Number of days the child attends school in a month.
  7. Teacher’s estimate: Teacher estimates the development of the child participation in school programme, interest and abilities, interfering factors and then records her opinion about the total development of the child.
