Lesson 2 : Entrepreneurial Development Cycle

Introduction

With the growing importance of entrepreneurship world over, a number of strategies and programmes were attempted to develop entrepreneurship. Research shows that the total efforts to promote and develop entrepreneurship in an area, follow a cyclic form. The three activities of entrepreneurship development are Stimulatory, Support and Sustaining.



  1. Stimulatory activities
  2. Supporting activities
  3. Sustaining activities

Each group of activity is highly interacting, supplementary and crucial for each other. In the absence or negligence of any group of activities the other group may be rendered in fructuous. It is found that promotional agencies start and place excessive emphasis on support in activities such as arranging finance, providing plant and machinery on long term loan and establishing industrial estates to provide the infrastructure like land, shed, power etc.

Spread of Entrepreneurship:

The efforts on entrepreneurship development catch up an active growth during the last three decades. Development of entrepreneurship becomes easy for many existing or new institutions or organizations to join in the main stream of organizing variety of entrepreneurship development activities. Besides, traditional EDP organization under SME (small and medium Enterprises) departments, many financial, educational, input related institutions and voluntary organizations have started setting up separate cells for entrepreneurship development.
