Certain centers may enroll children to remediate particular difficulties the child has. Some centers may focus on mental difficulties and others on physical handicaps. The recent trend is toward mainstreaming children who can profitably be integrated with normal children. Both central and state legislations in recent years has encouraged early education for children with various handicapping conditions.
