Overview

    Objective
The student will be able to acquaint himself with
    • Collection of data and classification of the same.
    • Represent the data in the form of diagrams and graphs and tables.
    • Summarise the data by using measures of central tendency and dispersion
    • Sample and method of selecting the samples
    • Based on the sample data testing the hypothesis and drawing conclusions about the population.
    • To find out the relationship between two variables and attributes.
    • How to design an experiment by taking into consideration the basic principles and
    • conduct experiments based on single factor and more than one factor.
    • To expose the students on the basics of computer
    • To give an idea about the functions of operating systems programs like windows.
    • To give an exposure on the commonly used packages on Ms. Office
    • To give an idea about the types of programming languages used in software development
    • To write simple programs in the high level language BASIC
    • To give an idea about the concepts of Visual Basic
    • Network and types of networks
    • Internet and email usage.

    Outcome
    • The student will be able to know
    • The methods of data collection , classification and tabulation and presenting the same in diagrammatic and graphic form.
    • To calculate the different measures of central tendency and dispersion for raw and groped data and their merits and demerits.
    • The basic concepts of Probability and an idea about the distributions for discrete and continuous random variables
    • Selecting simple random samples by using random numbers
    • The steps involving in testing of hypothesis of large and small samples by calculating Z, t and chi square statistic.
    • To calculate the strength of relationship and functional relationship of two variables by applying Karl Pearson’s Correlation coefficient and regression techniques
    • Basic principles of the experimental design replication, randomization and local control to minimize the experimental error and conducting experiments using CRD, RBD and LSD and the analysis.
    • The designs that can be adopted when there are two factors involved in the same experiment like Factorial RBD, Split plot design and Strip plot design and also an idea about the analysis of experiments conducted in different seasons or different locations.
    • An introduction to basics of computer like hardware, software, operating systems (Windows) .
    • The different types of programming languages and basic concepts used in program development of BASIC and Visual Basic Languages.
    • Internet and the types of networks
    • Sending and receiving the mails through internet.
