Parental role unoccupied

Family and Child Welfare 3 (3+0)

Lesson 11 : Roles and Responsibilities of Community

Parental role unoccupied

The most obvious difficulty results when the position of parent is unoccupied. The role may never have been occupied as is true if the parental role in case of the unmarried mother and the illegitimate child, death, separation or divorce may leave the father or the mother or sometimes both-permanently unfilled, long hospitalization, military service or imprisonment may leave the role of the parent temporarily vacant. In all these cases, essential requirement for the normal operation and the parent-child system remain unmet. As long as the role is unfilled, the adequate functioning of family is not possible. This is then is an area of concern for child welfare services.
