Hormonal changes in PEM

Hormonal changes in PEM occur as a part of the adaptive metabolic process.

Due a decrease in the lean body mass and physical activity, there is a lower oxygen demand. This in turn leads to lower hematopoietic activity and spares amino acids for the synthesis of other important body proteins.
