Screening for Iron deficiency

Iron deficiency is the point at which iron stores are completely exhausted and any deficiency of functional iron is associated with liabilities.

*Serum Ferritin	Hemoglobin	Diagnosis
Normal	Normal	No iron deficiency
Low	Normal	Storage depletion
Low	Low	Iron deficiency anemia
Normal	Low	Other causes of anemia

*Ferritin is the storage form of iron in the body.
