Vegetable oils

  • Ground nut oil
      • Clear colored liquid
      • Used exclusively in cooking
      • Used in margarine preparation and vanaspathy
      • Used to preserve fish tinned sardines

  • Other oils
    • Rape seed / mustard oil : Used as edible oil and as a lamp oil
    • Sesame oil – Used as edible oil
    • Coconut oil – Used in the preparation of soaps, vanaspathy and margarine. Also used as edible oil
    • Cotton seed
    • Sun flower
    • Soya bean oil –Can be used to get concentrated and isolated sources of protein
    • Palm oil – Rich in β-carotene.
