Absorption and storage

  • Administration of vitamin D can be orally or by injection.
  • Vitamin D is absorbed from the small intestines. Fat helps in absorption of the vitamin.
  • Bile is essential for absorption.
  • Vitamin D passes to the general circulation via lymph and distributed through the body.
  • Small amounts of vitamin D are stored in liver and found in blood and other tissues.
