Effects of deficiency

Vitamin B12 deficiency is most commonly occurs due to the result of inadequate absorption. Since vitamin B12 is exclusively found in foods of animal origin low intake can also result in deficiency.

  1. Megaloblastic anaemia
    Megaloblastic anaemia is a clinical manifestation of vitamin B12 deficiency which occurs due to deficiency of the folic acid. Inadequate production of intrinsic factor has also been identified as a cause for megaloblastic anaemia.

  2. Pernicious anemia
