Iodine content of foods

Marine foods such as sea fish and shellfish are important sources of iodine.

The oils of these fish are also rich in iodine. The edible flesh of sea fish and shellfish may contain from 300 to 3000 µg iodine/kg on fresh basis, compared with 20-40 µg/kg for fresh water fish. The iodine content of other foods is as follows:
