Lesson 23: Use and Care of Knitted Fabrics

Apparel

Knit fabrics are used for a variety of apparel. They are predominantly used in lingerie, underwear and infants' wear, hosiery and sweaters. Knit fabrics are used in outerwear, both as the shell fabric and as lining, interfacing, trim, and backing. The lamination of a tricot lining to a loosely woven fabric can produce a more stable product that retains the drape and hand of the woven fabric. Some fabric shoes are being made from knit structures.
