Lesson 31: Hand Embroidery

Fabrics

Tightly woven firm fabrics with smooth surface are suitable for embroidery. Even though medium weight fabrics are suitable for embroidery, other weight fabrics from cottons, silks and synthetics are suitable if the threads used are not heavy. Fabrics having evenly spaced surface pattern that supplies guidelines for certain kinds of embroidery such as cross-stitch are also suitable.
