Lesson 4 : Classification of Communication

Intrapersonal communication

Communication that takes place within oneself is called as intra personal. No other person is involved The individual becomes his or her own sender and receiver, providing feedback to himor herself in an ongoing internal process.

Some examples are:

• Interpreting maps, texts, signs, and symbols
  
• Interpreting non-verbal communication e.g. gestures, eye contact
  
• Communication between body parts; e.g. “My stomach is telling me it’s time for lunch.”
• Day-and night dreaming
