The concept of Extension as educational process

As an educational process it has five phases-
  1. Analysis of situation is by collection of facts about people’s interests, education, needs, customs, folkways, habits etc. and also about their physical situation such as livelihoods, markets, housing conditions, services, communications etc. The thorough analysis of these facts will provide the difference between what actually is and what should be.
  2. Objectives and solutions are set based on the analysis. They help to reach the desirable situation keeping in view the social and economic outcomes, as well as behavioral change.
  3. Teaching plan of work is deciding what to teach and how to teach, i.e., the content and method of teaching by creating learning situation to achieve the objectives.
  4. Evaluation of teaching to examine how far the objectives are achieved.
  5. Reconsideration is review of efforts and results which will reveal new situation. If this new situation reveals need for further action, the entire process has to be initiated.
