Importance of Programme Planning

According to Beal et. al. (1966) extension is faced with two major problems which indicate that some type of programme planning be done in order to solve these problems. These problems are:

  1. Huge amount of science and technology available in many disciplines and fields of research, but at the same time.
  2. Limited professionals and lay leader resources available to extend the knowledge of science and technology to the rural areas.
Since extension approach strongly stresses the importance of extending scientific and technological knowledge to various clienteles in solving their problems, hence extension programme planning is required which involves a collaborative efforts of extension administrators, SMS, extension supervisors and people’s representative.
