Understanding the nature and role of the National Extension Service Organization

The planners need to understand the nature of the National Extension Service organization in India and its role in enhancing rural development. This requires knowledge of the following:

1. Development, present scope, philosophy and objectives of community development.
2. Organization and administration of the agency at the national, state, district, block and village levels.
3. The role of various categories of personnel at various levels in the hierarchy.
4. Responsibility and opportunity of the agency in a developing country.
