Plain seam

Plain seam is further classified into three types viz., straight, curved and cornered.

  1. Straight seam
    A plain seam is the basic element in all garment construction and is the most widely used seam which is pliable and inconspicuous. It is used on all types of fabrics except on very transparent kinds and found in all areas of a garment. Plain seam is the easiest way of making seams that require less time and successfully used on straight and curved lines.

  2. Curved seam
    It is suitable for finishing curved sections of the garment such as necklines and armhole.

  3. Cornered seam
    It is one the variation of plain seam, used to finish cornered sections of the garment specially necklines.
