William And Mary(1687-1702)

The Main characteristics of William and Mary are : m

  1. Furniture became much more delicate and graceful.
  2. This was the beginning of the “Age of walnut” in English cabinet-making.
  3. Veneers were used in decorative treatment.
  4. Although the form of furniture was essentially rectilinear, more curves gradually appeared.
  5. During the reign of William and Mary many new types of furniture appeared.
  6. There was a much wider use of upholstered furniture and some pieces were done in overall upholstery.
  7. Queen Mary had a large collection of Porcelain and Delftware.
