    1. What is meant by pH.
    Answer: pH is defined as the logarithm of reciprocal of H+ ion concentration or the negative logarithm of H+ ion concentration.

    2. Name the two electrodes used in pH measurements.
    Answer: Calomel electrode (reference) and glass electrode (indicator)

    3. What is meant by a buffer solution?
    Answer: A buffer solution is one which resist the sudden change in pH. Buffer solution of known pH is used to standardize the pH meter.
