This chapter is designed to provide the students with the different methods of sterilization and disfection that are required in the field of microbiology. It deals with methods using physical means such as moist heat, dry heat, filtration, radiation etc and chemical means. Further, desirable properties of a disinfection, different classes of disinfectants and their mode of action are also covered in this chapter.
