Fungal human Diseases

  1. Diseases of the respiratory tract are caused by Histoplarma capsulatum, Coccidioides immitis Aspergillus etc.,

  2. Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract are caused by Aspergillus sp.

  3. Diseases of Vaginal tract – by Candida

  4. Diseases of central nervous system such as ergotism and meningitis are caused by Claviceps purpurea and Cryptococcus neoformans respectively

  5. Diseases of the skin include Dermatomycosis and sporotrichosis are caused by Trichophyton and Sporothrix respectively.

Diseases caused by Protozoa

  1. Amoebiosis - Entamoeba histolytica

  2. Vulvovaginitis - Trichomonas vaginalis

  3. Trypanosomiaris - Trypanosoma gambiense

  4. Malaria - Plasmodium (transmitted by mosquitoes)

Parasitic Diseases

Tapeworms, flukes, pinworms, roundworms and hookworms are known to cause gastrointestinal diseases. Elephantiasis and Schistosomiasis are also diseases of parasites.
