Alteration or improvement of the product

Alteration refers to improving and established product. The established product can be company’s own product or any other product sold by other company, i.e., an existing product in the market. Often, improving an established product can be more profitable and less risky than developing a completely new one. Alteration may be made in the design, size, color, packaging, quality, etc.
