Lesson 03 :Food Sampling

The sample size

  • The sample size greatly depends on the relationship that exists between the mass required to adequately represent a sample and the characteristics of that sample.
  • If a food material consists of different-sized particles, like small, big and medium enough sample mass needs to be collected in order to adequately represent all of the particles.
  • The segregation of finer, denser particles to the bottom of the sample container must be recognized during the sampling process to ensure that all particles are represented so as to avoid large sampling errors.
