Adolescent Needs and Prenatal Care

1. Many adolescents belong to low income groups. Awareness about importance and need for prenatal care is low.
2. More than one pregnancy during adolescence increases the risks of pregnancy with higher rates of low birth weight, morbidity and mortality.
3. Very often most do not have access to prenatal care, economic or psychological support. She does not have the skill/ability to care for herself or her infant after birth.
4. Counseling is very important at this stage.
