Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates provide energy and spare proteins from being used for energy. The chief source of energy for the brain is carbohydrate. Lactose is the chief carbohydrate of milk. Human milk contains more lactose and therefore its sweeter taste. Sugar is usually added to a formula to increase its sweetness.
