Introduction

Geriatric nutrition or nutrition for the elderly has become important in recent years due to increasing longevity. Today the population group of 60+ and above is a growing segment and the nutrient needs of this group should be taken care of.
Aging begins at birth and is a continuous process. The health and nutritional status of an elderly person will depend on the care he has taken in his earlier years. Moreover apart from the biological changes which occur with age, psychological and social changes also occur and greatly affect the nutritional status of the elderly.
