Lesson 23:Nutrition During Childhood

Introduction

Childhood is a period of continuous activity. Most children are busy with school work and games. It is a period when children interact with their peers and are influenced by them. Children are so busy with these activities that they often do not have enough time to spend on eating. Food and Nutrition is of no interest to them as long as they are given quick meals when hungry. Generally they prefer snack items, juices etc. As this is a growth period, it is important that they should meet their nutrient requirements and not fall behind in growth and development. More over this is the pre adolescent age when their body has to prepare itself for the growth spurt of adolescence.
