Introduction

Biotic component or the living component consists of various plants, animals and microbes, comprising many different interdependent populations.

Depending upon their mode of nutrition, the biotic component of an ecosystem is primarily made up of three kinds of organisms – autotrophs, heterotrophs and decomposers.
