Individuals and families depend upon the house and its surrounding environments, for various resources to fulfill their individual and group needs satisfactorily.
Every citizen living in rural or urban areas needs a house to protect his life and property and also to promote his well-being.
The type of house that a family chooses to live is further influenced by the location of residence, building design, space organization, and affordability.
Such a dwelling may be a detached house with open space all around, a semi-detached house or duplex with a common wall between two houses having separate entrances, the economical row house with open space only in front and back of the house or an apartment or flat in a multi-storied structure.
The differences in the interplay of social, cultural, physical, economic and religious factors create different responses in house from one culture to another or from one area to another.
Ultimately the design of the house reflects the lifestyle of its inhabitants and their thinking, feelings, beliefs and aspirations of its occupants.
