Soft fibre ropes

  1. Hemp

It is as strong as manila. Italian hemp is generally graded as the best quality hemp.

Hemp rope is soft and lacking stretching qualities.

  1. Jute

Jute ropes are weaker than hemp. This is mainly used for making the cores of wire rope.

  1. Flax

Ideal for use as a sewing twine due to high resistance to abrasion.

  1. Cotton

This fibre makes an excellent rope for use as a power drive. Very soft rope and easily soiled.
