MANDIBULAR NERVE BLOCK

  • The mandibular nerve is a branch of trigeminal and enters the mandibular foramen on the medial aspect of vertical ramus of the mandible and emerges through mental foramen, on the lateral aspect of the mandible.
  • During its course sensory branches are given off to teeth and gums of lower jaw.
  • Indications: To desensitize the cheek teeth, alveoli and gums of lower jaw.
  • Site: At the mandibular foramen on the medial aspect of the vertical ramus.
