Effect of pH on ptyalin activity

EFFECT OF pH ON PTYALIN ACTIVITY

  • Repeat the above procedure with the following modification. Instead of 2 ml of buffer solution of optimum pH 6.7 add 2 ml of 0.4% HCl to a tube (A) and 2 ml of Sodium carbonate to another tube (B).
  • The rest of the reagents and procedure are the same.
  • The chromic period from reaction tube (A) gives the effect of acid pH (around 2) and that from tube (B), the effect of alkaline pH (around 9) respectively on the enzyme activity.
