Full sib correlation

FULL SIB CORRELATION

  • Full sibs are relatives who have both parents in common.
  • The coefficient of relationship between full sibs is 0.50.
  • The cov between full sibs is due to ½ VA + ¼ VD + VEc.
Full sib correlation
  • The heritability based upon full sib correlation is therefore often over estimated since it includes ¼ VD+VEc.
  • Therefore, the intraclass correlation among full sibs can therefore be used to estimate heritability of those character in which the effects of VEc and VD are negligible.
