Okapi (Okapia johnstoni)

  • One of the members of giraffidae.
  • Bull and cows are attractive to look at. Only a male okapi has a pair of knobby horns, that are bare of skin at their tips
  • Okapi do not defecate until they are ten to thirteen days old.
  • May be closely related to Nilgai antelope.
  • Okapi has a cotyledonary placentation like that of the nilgai and not like the diffuse placentation as in giraffe.
