  • This group comprises turtles, tortoises and terrapins. Turtles are the most ancient living reptiles. Sea turtles are largest ones and females come to shore only to lay eggs. Variable sized chelonians are available in general.
    • Terrapins are the fresh water dwelling species.
    • Tortoises can also be called as ‘land turtles’
