1.4.1.Definition of Institution
An institution is on organiz ed system of social relationships which embodies certain common values and procedures and meets certain basic needs of society ( Horton , 1964). Social institutions are formal cultural structures devised to meet basic social needs (Land is., 1955). An institution is are latively permanent structure of social patterns of roles and relati ons that people enact in certain sanct ioned and unified ways for the purpose of satisfying basic social needs (Fitcher, 1964). It is clear that institutions are organised systems of behaviour, differ from organizations, or organized groups of people, and that important essential feature of an institution emerge from the aforesaid definitions . |
