    Causal organisms
    • Pythium vexans (de Bary)
    • P. piperinum (Dastur)
    • P. splendens var. hawaianum
    SYMPTOMS
    • Infected Plants droop, the upper succulent parts of the vines wilt.
    • The green parts turn pale yellow and then brown, leaves shrivel and plant dies. The basal part becomes rotten and can easily be pulled out due to the rottening of roots.
    • The symptoms and control measures in case of foot-rot disease caused by species of Pythium and Phytophthora are more or less the same and have been described under foot-rot disease caused by Phytophthora parasitica f.sp. piperina
