Causal organism: Phytoplasma. Symptoms
- Proliferation of floral parts, adherence of vegetative shoots formed by converted stamen & carpel.
Etiology
- It is prokaryotic, pleomorphic, obligate parasite, reproduction by binary fission.
- Primary source of inoculum: infected plants.
- Secondary source of inoculums: vectors.
- Spread: Through Leaf hopper vector
Epidemiology
- A temperature of 28-320 C warm weather with relative humidity of 80-85 % favours the disease development.
Management
- Early diagnosis and burning.
- Controlling vectors.
- Spray of lannate (0.2 %), Indoxicarb (0.2 %), Imidacloprid (0.05 %) at 15 days interval.
