Lecture - 9: CARROT |
Objective: The carrot is grown all over the world and it is used for human consumption as well as for forage particularly for feeding horses. It is taken raw as well as cooked in curries and is made into pickles and sweet meats. Black carrots are also used to make Kanji (an appetizer) where as orange coloured carrots are rich in carotene, a precursor of vitamin-A. The present chapter will make the students understand regarding its production technology, importance, seed production techniques and plant protection measures. |
