Exercise 4: How to Calculate Weed Control efficiency and weed Index
    • The weed control efficiency (WCE) can be calculated by using the following formula as suggested by Mani etal. 1973
WCE= DWC-DWT/DWC × 100
Where,
DWC = Dry weight of weeds in untreated control
DWT = Dry weight of weeds in weed control treatment.
 
    • Weed Index (WI) = Yhw - Yht/Yhw x 100
     
Where Yhw is the average crop yield in the hand-weeded plot and Yht is the average crop yield in the herbicide treatment under study.
