4. Leaf psyllid - Microceropsylla brevicornis D.L. Crawford. (Psyllidae : Hemiptera)

    Damage
    • The nymph feeds on tender stems, leaf stalks and leaf veins.
    • The infested leaves drop and dry up.
    • The sooty mould growth is occurred on leaves due to honey dew secretion of the bug.
    Bionomics
    • The adult bug is greenish yellow in colour.
    • It inserts egg singly on leaf tissues.
    • The incubation period is 8-9 days.
    • It has five nymphal instars completed in 19-24 days.
