  • Pre bearing age in coconut : Tall : 6 to 7 years .
  • Dwarfs : 3 to 4 years
  • Hybrids : 4 to 5 years.
  • Longivity of the palm : Talls = 70-80 years,
  • Dwarfs : 40 - 50 years.
    Stage of harvesting
  •  For getting copra fully matured nuts (Ripen nuts ) are harvested.
  •  For tender nut purpose : 6 to 7th months stage Frequency of harvesting coconuts: Once in a month (In well maintained and high yielding plantations bunches are produced regularly and harvesting is done once in a month.) It varies depending upon the yield of the palms.
  • Number of harvests per year : Usually nuts are harvested 6 to 10 times in a year.
  • Season of harvesting: Year round harvesting. Inflorescence is produced in every leaf axil ( 12 to 14 leaves per year) leading to year round harvesting. However, main harvesting season is Summer.

  • Yield: 80 to 100 nuts per palm per year. (National average yield is 44 nuts per palm per year)
