Lesson 14 : Sensory Impairment- Hearing

Conductive Hearing Loss

When the structures in the outer or middle ear do not work properly, their ability to conduct sound vibrations to the inner ear is affected. A build-up of wax in the ear canal, a punctured eardrum, or an ear infection often causes conductive hearing loss. The tiny bones can also become immobilized and lose their ability to vibrate. Conductive hearing loss can often be surgically or medically corrected.
